Jeffrey is one of the founding members of Stempel, Catterson, LoFrumento, Carlson, Biondo, LLP. He commenced his legal career in 1998 specializing in all aspects of matrimonial and family law litigation, including, but not limited to: divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution, complex business valuations, modification and enforcement issues, and the negotiation and preparation of pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, separation agreements, and stipulations of settlements. Jeffrey has represented, and assisted in the representation of, numerous high profile and celebrity clients. He has extensive experience with respect to complex business valuations involving multi-million dollar wage earners and business owners. Jeffrey’s matrimonial and valuation articles have been published in the New York State Bar’s Family Law Review, The Suffolk Lawyer and The Nassau Attorney. He has also lectured for the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association and Suffolk County Bar Association on numerous occasions. Jeffrey’s other areas of practice include personal injury, commercial litigation, general litigation and appellate practice. His personal injury experience involves complex litigation and appellate practice regarding traumatic brain injury, automobile accidents, construction site accidents, municipal liability and slip and fall accidents. Jeffrey has successfully argued before the New York State Appellate Divisions as well as New York State’s highest Court, the Court of Appeals. Jeffrey has been selected to the New York Super Lawyers, voted a Top Attorney in New York by his peers, every year since 2013 and selected as a Top Ten Nationally Ranked Family Law Attorney by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys since 2014. Jeffrey is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association, as well as the Matrimonial Law Committee of the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations, serving as the Co-Vice Chair on the Executive Committee for the Nassau County Matrimonial Committee.

As an attorney in private practice, I have advocated for clients and their families in Family Court, and in Supreme Court. I have experience in all aspects of litigation involving matrimonial law and family law, including equitable distribution of assets, custody, child support, spousal support, mothers’ rights, fathers’ rights, adoption, domestic violence, and all related family law issues. I have also been a Law Guardian representing children in custody, juvenile delinquency, PINS, and in child abuse and neglect circumstances. Additionally, I have recently served as staff attorney for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services reviewing applications for the appeal of indicated reports of child abuse and maltreatment. I served as a Principal Court Attorney for a Family Court Judge and Acting Supreme Court Justice for ten years. This decade of Court Attorney experience has enabled me to understand the family law legal process from the important perspectives of judges and the court system itself. I know how both sides approach a family law case, what Family Court judges are looking for, how decisions are made, and what a person from a neutral perspective such as a judge sees in a dispute that is vigorously contested.
