390 N. Broadway, 140, Jericho, NY 11753

Eric J. Benzenberg was listed as an attorney with The Basile Law Firm P.C. in Jericho, New York, in a federal court opinion dated November 5, 2024. The opinion named him among counsel for Gaucho Group Holdings, Inc. in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. That litigation concerned a convertible debt financing transaction between Gaucho and 3i. The court described a $5.62 million deal executed in February 2023 through a securities purchase agreement, a securities and pledge agreement, and a senior secured convertible note. Gaucho sought to rescind the transaction, while the defendants asserted counterclaims that included breach of contract and unjust enrichment. An earlier appellate decision also records Benzenberg’s work with the firm. In September 2022, New York’s Appellate Division, Fourth Department, identified him as counsel with Basile for the plaintiffs-appellants in AH Wines, Inc. v C6 Capital Funding LLC. A firm publication updated in October 2023 described him as a partner whose practice encompassed corporate restructuring, complex commercial litigation, and mergers and acquisitions. At the firm level, Basile’s services page describes business advice to companies, boards, management, owners, and professionals concerning growth, business development, investors, creditors, and acquisitions. Its transactional offering includes contracts involving distributors and manufacturers, employment agreements, financing documents, and mergers or acquisitions. The firm offers transactional services both independently and through arrangements establishing a set fee for recurring work.

Mr. Kurta spent his early career representing large and medium-sized brokerage firms throughout the country—an experience that makes him particularly effective when he represents investors who have been defrauded by those very same companies. Mr. Kurta understands that for most investors, their investment portfolios represent years of hard work and sacrifice. Kurta Law works with every type of investor—empty-nesters, experienced investors, farmers, doctors, and entrepreneurs. He started his law firm to protect hardworking individuals from fraudulent brokers and greedy brokerage firms. Jonathan Kurta has devoted himself to improving the securities industry for investors. To support this mission, he became a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA). PIABA promotes investor education and the enforcement of securities industry rules and regulations. Mr. Kurta served on the Board of Directors for PIABA for several years and continues in a leadership role in the organization. Throughout his career, Mr. Kurta has lectured on various issues involving securities arbitration and violations of securities laws. He is an Associate Professor at New York Law School where he teaches a class on securities litigation. When he is not fighting to recover money that has fallen into the wrong hands, Mr. Kurta enjoys spending time with his wife and three children at home on Long Island. Mr. Kurta is, unfortunately, an avid Jets fan. Mr. Kurta is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and Illinois, as well as before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Sixth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
