Antitrust Law

40 Rector St floor 9, New York, NY 10006, USA

Benjamin Elga is a New York attorney and the founding executive director of Justice Catalyst and Justice Catalyst Law. His work at the organizations focuses on impact litigation and innovation in legal practice, alongside a broader range of projects. Before joining Justice Catalyst, Elga worked at Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca on antitrust and consumer class actions. That work included litigation that led to the recall of thousands of defective cars and the recovery of depressed wages for nurses. He attended Harvard Law after serving as an agriculture volunteer with the Peace Corps in Senegal and working on statewide political campaigns. His Justice Catalyst biography lists admission to practice in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. The same biography identifies Elga as a senior fellow at the American Economic Liberties Project, an advisory board member at the Student Borrower Protection Center, and a board member at Facing It Together. Justice Catalyst also identifies him as an investment committee co-chair. Justice Catalyst Law, the nonprofit organization he leads, was founded in 2018 and develops impact cases and legal strategies addressing economic and social justice. The organization describes its work as interdisciplinary, with attention to racial and other longstanding inequities. Its stated focus is on communities underserved by economic and legal systems. This organizational mission provides the context for Elga’s leadership role and his focus on impact litigation.
