Isaiah Vallejo-Juste is an attorney with eighteen years of experience in matrimonial and commercial litigation and has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for the year 2019, 2020, 2021, and recognized as a Super Lawyer in 2022 and 2023. In addition, Isaiah is also an adjunct professor with Marist College, where he has taught classes such as Administrative Law, Ethics, and Politics and Policy for the College’s MPA program since 2013. He has also taught CLEs for the New York State Bar Association in the area of matrimonial law, and has appeared on WABC radio news as an authority on legal issues. Isaiah is also a member of the matrimonial committee of the New York State Bar Association and a member of the New York City Women’s Bar Association. He is a 2005 graduate of Albany Law School (cum laude) where he served as an associate editor of the Environmental Law Review and was Vice President of the Latin American Law Students Association. Isaiah is also a 2002 graduate of New York University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Isaiah lives in Bergen County, New Jersey with his wife and two children.

Area of Practice: Mediation and Collaborative Law After receiving my J.D. in 1993., I began practicing litigation in New York City, where I amassed over a decade of experience conducting trials and appeals in a broad range of matrimonial and complex commercial matters. While I enjoyed and appreciated the strengths of the judicial system, I also recognized its shortcomings in delivering meaningful and satisfying resolutions to conflicts. I discovered mediation and collaborative law after my three daughters were born, after I had some time away from litigation. In fact, the farther I got from litigation, the clearer it became that I did not want to return; preserving families and protecting children seemed inconsistent with that system. I even took a brief detour to develop a different passion, earning a master’s degree in landscape design. Studying something so removed from law helped me clear my mind and reassess how I could contribute to, and not detract from, other peoples’ lives. Eventually, I resolved to reinvent my legal career in a way that was more consistent with my values and goals.

Dr. Ivor Elrifi is the chair of Cooley's global patent counseling and prosecution practice group. He advises pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences and medical device companies, research institutions, universities, hospitals and governments throughout the world, particularly in the US and Europe. Jack Waldman is Executive Vice President and General Counsel for SwimUSA, a leading specialty apparel company focusing on the global swimwear market. At SwimUSA, Jack oversees the company’s legal affairs, including corporate governance, litigation, IP-portfolio management, labor and employment law and regulatory compliance. Jack sits on the company’s Executive Committee as well as its Board of Directors, and regularly counsels and advises the company’s executive team on strategic matters including mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and financing/capital markets.
