Insurance Law

375 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209

Daniel Morris is a Buffalo attorney at The Morris Law Firm, where his work concerns disputed no-fault insurance benefits. Before representing doctors and hospitals, he worked for insurers. His early litigation and arbitration work took place in New York City, defending insurance companies’ decisions to deny benefits. Returning to Buffalo, where he had attended law school, meant changing sides in those disputes: he began working for local medical providers seeking payment. One of his appellate appearances was for Spine Surgery of Buffalo Niagara in its case against GEICO Casualty Company. The Fourth Department’s January 31, 2020 decision names Daniel K. Morris as counsel with the Buffalo firm. The plaintiff held assigned claims for no-fault benefits and brought a prima facie tort claim seeking, among other relief, punitive damages. The appellate court left the dismissal in place but changed it to a dismissal without prejudice. The firm’s account of Morris’s work describes his continuing representation of doctors and hospitals. Its services include helping clients decide whether to pursue denied benefits through arbitration or litigation. In explaining that choice, the firm points to differences in speed, appeal options and enforcement of an award, and offers to discuss the risks and benefits of each forum. The Morris Law Firm now lists its office at 447 Amherst Street in Buffalo. A relocation notice identifies 375 Linwood Avenue as its former address.
