David Resnick, a New York personal injury attorney, began his law career working at large firms where the objective was to spend as little time as possible actually speaking to clients. He saw that clients deserved more time and attention, however, and an attorney who truly cared about their case. Armed with nothing more than a firm belief in client communication, he started his own practice in a tiny office in his apartment. His wife, a student at the time, helped out by answering phones in between classes. David is a Partner and leads the firm’s New York Office. His practice for the past 25 years has concentrated on litigation and arbitration matters for the securities industry. He has represented broker-dealers, registered investment advisors, and investment banking firms, and their principals and representatives in a broad variety of matters nationwide, including disputes alleging unsuitability, unauthorized trading, fraud, market manipulation, blue-sky violations, as well as a wide variety of employment matters, including litigation and arbitration over allegations of gender, race, and age discrimination and compensation and “raiding” cases. David represents clients in regulatory matters before the SEC, FINRA and state regulators. David also frequently represents clients in the state and federal trial and appellate courts in commercial disputes, including employment, real estate and trusts and estates matters. David has served as a FINRA Industry Arbitrator and a New York City Civil Court Arbitrator. David is admitted to practice in the State Courts of New York, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. David was previously a Partner in the Litigation Department of Blank Rome, where he had also been Associate. Prior to that, David had been an Associate at Skadden Arps. David received his law degree from the Beasley School of Law at Temple University in 1985.

Managing Partner Derek Sells began his legal career at the prestigious Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering and continued on to the Washington, D.C. Defender Service as a Senior Trial Attorney. In 1995 Derek joined what is today known as The Cochran Firm. He successfully represented, as co-lead counsel with firm founder Johnny Cochran, a diverse list of clients covering a wide variety of legal matters. In 2002 Derek was selected as Managing Partner of The Cochran Firm and since then he has amassed an extraordinary record of million dollar verdicts and settlements, exceeding over $300 million to date. Derek is a graduate of Dartmouth College (Class of 1985) and Yale Law School (Class of 1988). In addition to his leadership role at The Cochran Firm he has taught trial advocacy at various seminars, including those sponsored by the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association and Harvard Law School. He is a member of the New York and Washington, D.C. bars. Derek resides in Queens, New York with his wife and two sons.
