Ms. Annunziato joined Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP in 2010 as Special Counsel and became Partner in 2011. She focuses her practice on the defense of professional liability cases and health care law matters. Laurie handles the defense of physicians and hospitals from inception through trial. She has also successfully represented health care professionals in professional disciplinary proceedings. Laurie is a member of the firm’s Continuing Legal Education Committee and has published articles in MD News. Laurie has also been a guest speaker at several outside seminars involving topics related to nursing care and support, interdisciplinary support in hospital settings, and Electronic Medical Records. As a result of her broad practice and extensive litigation experience, Laurie is able to understand the issues from all viewpoints, and manages her cases to a successful conclusion. She has tried several complicated and high exposure cases successfully, and is endlessly committed to meeting each client’s individual needs. Prior to joining the firm, Laurie was a Trial Attorney with Benvenuto, Arciero & McAndrew and an Assistant District Attorney with the Bronx County District Attorney’s office. As an ADA, Laurie successfully tried several more felony criminal cases. Her extensive experience as a former prosecutor and being an advocate for victims of crimes, including children has transcended into her civil practice. Laurie tirelessly strives to focus and resolve the critical and sensitive issues important to her clients.

Marie has been an attorney for over twenty-five years and has experience handling complex cases, including employment discrimination, civil rights, mass tort matters, personal injury, medical malpractice litigation, and pharmaceutical litigation. Marie earned her J.D. from St. John’s University Law School, her L.L.M. degree from New York University (NYU) School of Law and is currently an Environmental Law LLM candidate 2023 at Lewis and Clark Law School. She has worked for the New York Appellate Division, 2nd Department and has taught CLE courses on Tort and Civil Procedure at St. John’s University School of Law. As a founding partner, Marie plays an integral role in achieving the multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements in the firm’s many practice areas, including the $1.3+ billion settlement in the New York Opioid Jury Trial, the jury verdict for plaintiffs in the Ohio Opioid Trial (the federal bellwether trial against national pharmacy chains),the $640 million Flint Water Crisis agreement, and the $1 billion settlement in the World Trade Center litigation. The firm continues to be at the forefront of national and noteworthy legal cases, including those involving anti-trust generic drug litigation, Aqueous Film-Forming Foam water contamination cases, where a $1.185B agreement with Dupont, Chemours, and Corteva was recently announced, and civil rights matters. For her legal achievements, Marie has been recognized by her peers and the legal industry, consistently being named to New York Super Lawyers®, Best Attorneys of America and to The National Trial Lawyers for Women’s Rights – Top 10 list to name only a few. Peter DeNoto has been a Partner in the firm since 2005, and he focuses his practice on trying complex cases and providing general legal services to professionals, corporations, and institutions. His responsibilities include the management and handling of risk management activities, including pre-litigation investigations, and all aspects of litigation once suit is initiated. In 2006, to improve the quality of services that the firm was providing to Long Island-based clients, he opened the firm’s Garden City office with two other attorneys. Since that time, the Long Island practice has expanded to twelve attorneys plus a support staff of eight under Mr. DeNoto’s supervision. Peter provides consulting services for national corporations regarding financial exposure, litigation planning and handling, and litigation resolution, and he lectures on risk management issues and medical-legal issues.
