I grew up in the suburbs of Memphis Tennessee, and like many people here in Charlotte, I relocated to North Carolina after completing my graduate studies. In law school I spent my time studying and working at my internships. Unlike most of my classmates, I attended law school after completing a postgraduate degree and entering the workforce. My postgraduate studies were focused in criminology and criminal justice, in which I largely focused on studying the generational transmission of domestic violence. I had every intention of then pursuing a career in law enforcement after law school, and spent my law school years working at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I also interned at a well-established family law firm before receiving my law license. Following law school I decided to practice law for a period of time before planning on returning to the Bureau. It was during this time that I decided to commit to the practice of law. I worked at the firm I had interned at and another highly respected family law firm in Charlotte before opening Freedom Law | North Carolina. While I am grateful for my past opportunities and the experience I gained from my former positions, over the years I realized there is a disconnect between the traditional ways of practicing law and meeting today’s clients’ needs. If I were a client, I would not only want an attorney who is competent and able to handle my case, I would want an attorney that I could relate to and really feel like my story is important. That is what I hope to bring to my clients at Freedom Law | North Carolina. It is your life, your path, and your choice. I’m just here to help guide you through it.

I genuinely believe the more you know regarding your options, the more empowered you will feel when making a decision. My personal and professional experience has proven to me no two families are alike and the complexity surrounding each case deserves a personal, thorough and realistic approach that works for your individual family. I am a first generation attorney who grew up in a small-town in Stokes County, North Carolina. Although divorced, my parents worked together to instill in me a strong work-ethic which afforded me a scholarship opportunity to attend George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where I was a pitcher for the NCAA Patriots’ softball team. I graduated from George Mason with a Bachelor of Science degree in the Administration of Justice concentrating in Law and Society, and earned my national paralegal certification from the National Federation of Paralegals Association. Prior to becoming licensed as an attorney, I worked as a paralegal for five years focusing my experience to only issues related to family and domestic law, primarily in Mecklenburg County. I was licensed by the North Carolina State Bar in March 2017 and began my practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is my goal to provide effective support to you through every step of your case, to allow you greater access to honest, practical and personal representation. My practice philosophy is to build a purpose-driven career centered by my faith in God and exemplified by my service to your family. It is my sincerest hope that when the process is finished you feel empowered that you were provided the appropriate tools, skills and knowledge to make the best decisions possible regarding your family. Outside of the office you are likely to find me spending time with my husband, son and daughter, and our two, lovable, eleven-year-old dogs; or sharing appetizers with friends at my latest culinary find and cheering on my beloved Red Sox.
