Rachel L. Shelstad is a partner with Winner & Booze. Rachel is a native Nevadan, and her family has resided in Las Vegas since 1950. Rachel engages in the defense of civil litigation including claims for personal injury, property damage, premises liability, investigation of insurance fraud, bad faith litigation in State and Federal Court, and the prosecution of claims for subrogated interests. Rachel has participated in over forty (40) trials and enjoys bringing excellent and efficient results to her clients. Prior to joining Winner & Booze, Rachel was a Trial Attorney III at the Government Employees Insurance Company for over five (5) years. Rachel gained great experience in the areas of trial practice, personal injury, and insurance law. Rachel previously joined Hurtik Law & Associates in 2013, and focused her practice on general civil litigation, commercial litigation, construction defect, trust and estate litigation, real estate litigation, transactional, probate and criminal law. Rachel graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2006. Rachel was elected to the Pi Mu Epsilon, National Honorary Mathematics Society, Nevada Beta Chapter, in recognition of superior achievement in the field of mathematics. Rachel received a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada Las Vegas. Rachel previously worked as a law clerk for another well-known Las Vegas law firm where she primarily practiced criminal law, complex civil litigation, administrative law and appeals in the Ninth Circuit. Rachel is admitted to practice in all Nevada State Courts, Federal Court for the District of Nevada, and the Supreme Court of Nevada.

Renee began her career working with insurance companies and nationally known corporations. That experience gave her a detailed understanding of how insurers evaluate claims and where injured people can be left without a clear advocate. In 2025, she founded Summit Trial Attorneys to bring that perspective to injured people and families across Las Vegas, Reno, Henderson, and communities throughout Nevada. Renee is of counsel to Trial Lawyers for Justice, the national trial firm founded by Nick Rowley, on select high-exposure product cases. Summit remains her Nevada trial practice.

Mr. Nelson has demonstrated extensive experience in casino regulatory compliance, gaming operations, and hotel operations. He has successfully represented clients before the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Nevada Gaming Commission, New Jersey Casino Control Commission, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, and other domestic and international jurisdictions. He has represented clients with respect to complex licensing issues. He has defended clients against disciplinary matters. He has represented clients in gaming and entertainment tax matters. Mr. Nelson has extensive experience in promotions, contingent prize events, and lottery issues. Mr. Nelson has obtained approvals for nightclub operations and marketing programs. He has negotiated and drafted agreements relating to the purchase and/or lease of slot machines and other gaming equipment. Mr. Nelson also has experience in the ever-changing world of internet gaming, social gaming, and mobile gaming. Mr. Nelson recently participated in a presentation on abandoned video games and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Mr. Nelson has represented many commercial clients in commercial transactions, real property transactions, buy/sell transactions, and private placement of securities. He has represented clients with respect to business formation matters in domestic and international jurisdictions. He has drafted and negotiated Operating Agreements, Shareholder Agreements, Management Contracts, and Employment contracts. He served as general counsel to subsidiaries responsible for branch office activities. He has negotiated and drafted retail leases, restaurant leases, licensing/franchise agreements, and other similar agreements. He also has considerable experience in representing a commercial client with land use matters, use permits, water rights, special assessment districts, and environmental issues. Mr. Nelson has represented commercial creditors in collection and bankruptcy matters. He has represented secured creditors and has obtained temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, and receivership orders. His practice also includes insurance defense litigation.
