Civil Litigation

15042 Poplar Dr, Monroe, MI 48161, USA

Michael L. Jones grew up in a rural town outside of Toledo, OH. In 2003, Mr. Jones graduated from Bowling Green State University in Education. Later that year, Mr. Jones moved to Berkeley, CA. He taught 4th, 5th, and 6th graders history through the use of a time machine, music, costumes, and props. Mr. Jones also worked as a community organizer with at-risk youth in an effort to curb teen pregnancy. He witnessed the injustice toward lower income families, people of color, and the plague of institutionalized racism. He felt powerless to fight against this injustice in his role as community organizer. So, in 2014, Mr. Jones enrolled in law school at Sacramento, California’s McGeorge School of Law. While at McGeorge, Mr. Jones excelled. He won best Opening Argument in McGeorge’s Mock Trial Competition in 2016. In his final year, he competed on McGeorge’s mock trial team, where he earned recognition as Best Overall Advocate. His team won runner-up in the Buffalo-Niagara Mock Trial, won the AAJ Regional Mock Trial, and competed in the National AAJ Mock Trial Championship. He was a Dean’s List recipient all three years of law school, earned the Barrister’s Award, and served on the administrative board as the student liaison. For his final semester, he served as a full-time extern for the Honorable Justice Kathleen Butz of the Third Circuit Court of Appeal. He graduated in the top-15 percent of his class. After law school, Mr. Jones worked for a record breaking law firm that represented employees. Mr. Jones learned the importance of case organization, attention to detail, and case framing. In 2020, he assisted in obtaining a $3.5 million verdict for a wrongfully terminated employee. He also negotiated several six-figure confidential settlements for his clients. In 2021, Mr. Jones decided to return home to be close to family. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2021. Mr. Jones is also admitted to practice in California, the Eastern District of California, the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Western District of Michigan. Civil Litigation

2653 Industrial Row Dr, Troy, MI 48084

I focus my practice in civil litigation, general negligence, premises liability, first and third-party no-fault claims, insurance defense, municipal law, and labor and employment. I pride myself on being an aggressive and well-prepared litigator. Every lawsuit has many different stories. I strive to ensure the correct story is uncovered, so I may properly advise my clients throughout the course of litigation. My diligence has garnered a reputation for effective advocacy for my clients. I also currently serve as an Adjunct Law Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. This course utilizes a realistic hypothetical fact pattern to provide students with a hands-on practical approach to the civil litigation process. Outside of the legal profession, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and volunteering in my local community through various local bar associations and non-profit groups.

Medical Malpractice Law

Michael’s education as a nurse and his experience of having been in a serious motorcycle accident led to an understanding of how important it is to obtain appropriate and timely medical care to promote recovery. Michael was born in Arkansas but graduated from high school in Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Beloit College in Wisconsin and his Bachelor of Science from Rush University College of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. Upon returning to Michigan, he worked as a nurse at the Detroit Medical Center while attending law school.
