About Lori
Lori J. Cerato practices elder law with Cerato & Lombardo, LLP in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. She opened her Stroudsburg practice on August 7, 2000. Estate planning and administration, long-term care planning, guardianship and Orphans’ Court litigation make up its stated focus. Monroe County is the center of her practice, though she has also handled matters in Lackawanna, Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Carbon, Luzerne, Wayne and Pike counties.
Her 2014 presidency of the Monroe County Bar Association included work on the association’s own history: she began an archive project that led to a centennial publication. She also oversaw restoration of the building’s front porch in Stroudsburg’s historic district and brought past presidents and young lawyers together to develop a strategic plan. Separately, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court appointed her to its Orphans’ Court Procedural Rules Committee for the 2014–2019 term.
Before opening her office, Cerato spent September 1995 through August 2000 as an associate at the insurance defense firm O’Malley & Harris, P.C., handling civil litigation and appeals across northeastern Pennsylvania. Earlier work included judicial clerkships for Monroe County judges Ronald E. Vican and James R. Marsh.
Originally from Scranton, Cerato studied English at the University of Scranton, with a minor in history, and graduated cum laude. Banking work preceded law school. She earned her law degree at Dickinson in 1993; during her final year there, she clerked for the commissioner of Pennsylvania’s Department of Insurance in Harrisburg.
