Roberta Asher

Roberta Asher’s work as a personal injury lawyer in New York City included practice at Asher & Associates, P.C. Her New York bar admission, on August 3, 1983, was recorded under the name Roberta Dorf Asher.

An arbitration appeal provides one example of her representation. In Matter of Allstate Insurance Company v. Labunska, decided October 21, 2015, she was listed as counsel for the respondents through Asher & Associates. Allstate was appealing a Suffolk County Supreme Court order that had rejected its petition to vacate an arbitration award and had confirmed the award. The Second Department affirmed that order, with costs.

A later decision addressed her responsibilities within the firm. In December 2025, the First Department described Asher as its sole proprietor and the ultimate supervisor of pending cases, dating her practice there to approximately 1993. That decision publicly censured her on a joint motion for discipline by consent. Seven charges arose from three client matters.

Among them was an unlawful-arrest lawsuit in which she waited approximately seven years after commencement to request judicial intervention. The court also recorded years-long periods without contact between the client and Asher or her firm. In weighing the sanction, it considered her cooperation with the investigation and eight character letters from former judges and clients. It found no dishonesty toward clients, adversaries or courts, and no motivation of personal profit behind the misconduct.
