About Michael S.
Michael S. Lamonsoff is a New York City personal injury lawyer who founded The Law Offices of Michael S. Lamonsoff, PLLC, and serves as its CEO. He opened the practice in 1994, working alone in a small office without windows. The firm now has a Manhattan office on the eighth floor of 32 Old Slip.
Born and raised in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, Lamonsoff worked in construction and held jobs as a bouncer, farm hand, bartender, garbageman and porter to help pay for college. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Arizona. At Columbia University, he received a Master of Arts and a Master of Education in psychology before attending Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
His firm biography lists authorization to practice in New York’s state courts and in the Southern and Eastern District federal courts. It also identifies him as a board member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the American Association for Justice and New York County Lawyers Association.
Lamonsoff describes trial preparation as his approach even when a case may settle. His firm represents people injured in construction, premises and motor vehicle accidents, along with sexual assault survivors and people harmed in other negligence-related accidents. In his account of building the practice, he describes bringing together attorneys, paralegals, experts and paraprofessionals to pursue those cases.
