About Joseph

Joseph W. Belluck is a New York City attorney and founding partner of Belluck Law, with a practice in mesothelioma and serious injury litigation. His asbestos work began in 1999, three years before he and Jordan Fox established their firm. Belluck also co-wrote 100 Questions & Answers About Mesothelioma.

Before entering that partnership, Belluck represented New York State in litigation against the tobacco industry. Other earlier positions included a Texas Supreme Court clerkship and a staff attorney job with Public Citizen in Washington, D.C. For six months following the September 11 attacks in 2001, he worked with Trial Lawyers Care. That assignment involved representing families of people killed at the World Trade Center without charging them for legal services.

His education includes a sociology degree from SUNY Binghamton in 1989 and a law degree from SUNY Buffalo in 1994, where he graduated magna cum laude.

The firm announced a change of name to Belluck Law effective January 1, 2025, following Fox’s retirement. Its announcement retained the headquarters at 546 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

Belluck’s public appointments include membership on the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, beginning in 2008 as a gubernatorial appointee. On June 18, 2026, commission members unanimously re-elected him chair for a two-year term. This is judicial oversight work: the commission investigates misconduct allegations concerning New York’s state and local judges.
