About Helene
Helene E. Blank practices law in Brooklyn at Blank & Star, PLLC, representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters and handling general litigation. Her office is at 387 New Lots Avenue, at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue. The firm’s website identifies both Blank and Scott Star as its attorneys.
Outside her casework, Blank is listed among the members of the New York courts’ Advisory Committee on Civil Practice. The committee roster identifies her as owner of the Law Offices of Blank and Star. She graduated from New York Law School in 1977 and passed the bar in 1978.
Two First Department appeals place her work in a more specific setting. In Hines v. New York City Transit Authority, decided December 24, 2013, Blank appeared for the injured pedestrian appealing a denial of partial summary judgment. The pedestrian had been hit by a left-turning vehicle while crossing with the walk signal. The appellate court granted her motion on liability against the transit authority and Atlantic Paratrans of NYC, Inc., but left the denial intact as to the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
Blank also appeared for Eric Flowers in Flowers v. Cora Realty Co. LLC, decided January 5, 2023. That appeal concerned requests for further discovery and to strike the defendants’ answer. There, the First Department affirmed the denial of the requested relief.
