Robert T. Eglet is a trial lawyer in Las Vegas and a founding partner of Eglet Law, serving as lead trial counsel in its major cases. His work includes litigation over product defects, catastrophic injuries and mass disasters.
Teaching is another part of his practice. Eglet lectures on jury psychology and trial advocacy, along with product liability and catastrophic injury law, and trains plaintiff trial lawyers. He also mentors students interested in civil trial work; one of his lectures is titled “The Death of the American Trial Lawyer.”
At the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law, he and his wife, Tracy Eglet, have funded scholarships, faculty positions and national trial team competitions. Tracy is also a founding partner of the firm. McGeorge named the Eglet Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution in recognition of their gifts.
His litigation record includes claims against pharmaceutical companies after the 2008 Las Vegas hepatitis C outbreak. After the October 1 Las Vegas mass shooting, he pursued MGM Resorts on behalf of victims; his firm reports an $800 million settlement. In Nevada’s opioid litigation, his advice to state and local governments was to proceed outside the federal multidistrict litigation and settlements. Eglet Law attributes $1.3 billion in opioid settlements to that work, with funds supporting treatment and public health programs in Nevada.
