David L. Bonham spent his formative years in Texas and graduated from the University of Texas. Mr. Bonham attended the University of Miami School of Law where he graduated, with honors, in 1997. While in law school, Mr. Bonham earned several academic awards and honors, and served as President of the University of Miami School of Law Moot Court Board from 1996-1997. After graduating from law school, Mr. Bonham worked as a Case Manager in the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida in and for Miami-Dade County. As a Case Manager, Mr. Bonham assisted the Honorable Judith Kreeger and the Honorable Arthur Taylor in managing their caseloads while gaining valuable insight into the judicial process. Following his work with the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Mr. Bonham accepted a position with Maurice J. Kutner & Associates, P.A. in Miami, Florida. Mr. Bonham had the privilege of working with Mr. Kutner for three years, where his practice was focused exclusively on marital and family law matters for very high net worth individuals. Mr. Bonham subsequently took a position at Akerman Senterfitt, a Florida law firm with more than 400 attorneys statewide. At Akerman Senterfitt, Mr. Bonham worked closely with Richard C. Milstein, Esquire, and David Carlisle, Esquire, assisting them with their probate and guardianship cases while also managing his own family law caseload. After four years at Akerman Senterfitt, Mr. Bonham accepted a position with Rutherford Mulhall, P.A., a mid-sized, full service law firm with offices in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. At Rutherford Mulhall, Mr. Bonham continued to handle his own litigation caseload and assisted John T. Mulhall, III, Esquire, in his family law and appellate practices. After three years at Rutherford Mulhall, P.A., Mr. Bonham decided to open his own practice, with offices in Miami, Weston and Boca Raton. The Bonham Law Firm, P.L., was founded in July 2007 with the express goal of providing the highest quality legal services throughout South Florida and the Florida Keys. Mr. Bonham is accessible to his clients, experienced in his field, and dedicated to delivering the personal attention necessary to achieve your goals.

David was born in Goshen, New York and is the youngest of six children. David graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1990 and from Presbyterian College in 1994 with a degree in Political Science and Business. David always had a passion for helping people and a drive to have the power to assist them in matters they could not resolve on their own. That passion led David to the practice of law. Upon graduating from college, David attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1997.

Mejias believes in accountability in business. In 2003, despite overwhelming odds, David Mejias was elected to the Nassau County Legislature. Since taking office, Mejias has maintained his focus and fought for issues that are important to his thousands of constituents. He is also a veteran of tough battles, fighting hard to win reelection. He has led the effort to keep our children safe from sex offenders by sponsoring the toughest Megan’s Notification Law in New York State and sponsored legislation implementing residency restrictions for sex offenders. Most recently, David Mejias sponsored and passed legislation that allows law enforcement to install computer monitoring software on the computers of registered sex offenders, using the same technology sex offenders use to prey on our children to catch them in the act. As a legislator and in the practice of law, David has fought for the rights of victims of domestic violence. He has been recognized by the Coalition Against Domestic Violence for his efforts on their behalf. David Mejias is a graduate of The University at Albany School of Business and Fordham University School of Law.
