About Alicia

Alicia M. Wheeler is the founder of Wheeler Law and an attorney in Phoenix. The firm opened in January 2020; in an interview on its website, she identifies herself as its owner and managing attorney.

Her professional service includes a term chairing the State Bar of Arizona’s immigration council in 2021–2022. The bar’s 2023–2024 Immigration Law Executive Council roster subsequently listed Wheeler as a member at large, identifying her firm as Wheeler Law, PLLC. Those are past appointments, rather than a description of a current council office.

Before law school, Wheeler taught Spanish to middle school students in Atlanta. That two-year assignment followed her graduation from Bucknell University and was part of Teach for America. Teaching was work she enjoyed, though she had already planned to pursue law.

At Bucknell, her two majors were Spanish and political science. She graduated magna cum laude and received the Charles Longley Prize for Political Science as its female recipient. Her Spanish studies included four and a half months in Granada, Spain, and a service trip to Nueva Vida, Nicaragua. Asked about learning the language, she also credited clients with giving her daily opportunities to practice it.

Wheeler’s law degree is from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. After passing the Arizona bar examination, her legal career included work at a large firm followed by a smaller one.
