About Christin
Christin Georgelas is a family-law attorney and partner at SG Law, PLC in Leesburg, Virginia. Her first work after law school was on the employer side of employment disputes: at a boutique firm, she defended companies and corporations. She later left that practice to represent individuals.
At SG Law, her work includes divorce, custody and visitation, as well as the financial questions of equitable distribution, spousal support and child support. She also prepares premarital and settlement agreements. Adoptions and relocation cases are among the other matters identified in her biography. Court appearances are part of her practice, but she also mediates family disputes involving divorce, custody and support. The firm lists her as a Supreme Court Certified Mediator in Virginia. Her previous appointments as a guardian ad litem involved both children and incapacitated adults.
Before law school, Georgelas combined political science studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with Division I diving. In three of her four years there, she qualified for the NCAA championship meet. An invitation to train for the 2008 Olympic Trials followed her senior-year championships; after breaking her ankle that spring, she chose law school at Valparaiso University. She earned her J.D. magna cum laude. During her third year, she clerked for Judge Julia M. Jent and served on the executive board of the JESSUP international moot court team.
