About David
David E. Bernsen is a personal injury attorney in Beaumont, Texas, where he founded Bernsen Law Firm. His legal career began with a federal court clerkship: after receiving his law degree from St. Mary’s University in 1976, he clerked for Joe J. Fisher, chief judge of the Eastern District of Texas. That was also the year he became licensed in Texas.
Trial work has involved representing defendants as well as plaintiffs. The firm credits Bernsen with taking hundreds of cases to jury verdict. Its account of his practice places personal injury within a broader range of complex litigation, from industrial accidents and tractor-trailer collisions to insurance claims and property damage. Commercial matters appear on that list too, including contract cases, breach of fiduciary duty, bank fraud and conspiracy, and RICO litigation. He also handles civil rights and discrimination cases.
Bernsen’s public service included serving as a Texas state senator. In the legislature, he authored coastal erosion and state planning measures and helped write a bill for monitoring Texas bays and estuaries. He was also a sponsor of the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
At Bernsen Law Firm, David and his son Cade are both attorneys. The firm represents injured people and families throughout Southeast Texas; its Beaumont office is at 420 North MLK Jr. Parkway.
