About Daniel

Daniel Belhumeur is of counsel in Pillsbury’s Corporate practice in Houston, advising on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other oil and gas matters. His work covers mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, and the development and construction of projects.

Before joining Pillsbury, Belhumeur served as president of Tellurian Inc. He led Tellurian through its $1.2 billion sale to Woodside Energy. His earlier executive posts included general counsel, chief compliance officer and executive vice president, with responsibility for legal strategy on international joint ventures, energy projects and multibillion-dollar financings.

LNG construction financing accounts for several of the matters listed in his firm biography. He counseled on $2 billion in private equity investments for construction of Sabine Pass LNG and $3 billion for Corpus Christi LNG. For a Louisiana LNG project, he negotiated and managed engineering, procurement and construction agreements with Bechtel Oil and Gas totaling more than $25 billion. His transaction experience also includes negotiating LNG purchase and sale agreements for multiple projects in Texas and Louisiana.

On the upstream side, Belhumeur led the $260 million sale of a gas production business and advised on an acquisition of more than $200 million in Haynesville Shale gas assets. Pillsbury separately credits him with leading negotiations for more than $2 billion in debt and equity capital raises since 2016. His firm profile lists Texas under bar admissions.
