About Alissa
Alissa A. Adkins is a partner at McDonald & Adkins, LLP in Corpus Christi, Texas, whose practice includes civil litigation in state and federal courts. Her work also includes wills, trusts and estates, including probate litigation, and she has assisted clients with transactional matters.
Before joining the firm, Adkins held legal positions in county and municipal government and served as a judge. She spent more than nine years as Chief of Litigation for Nueces County, representing the county in civil cases before state and federal trial and appellate courts. Employment and civil rights matters were prominent parts of that work. The Nueces County Commissioners Court subsequently appointed her to complete James Klager’s unexpired term on County Court at Law No. 4. After her judicial service, she represented the City of Corpus Christi and other governmental entities at McKibben, Martinez, Jarvis & Wood, PLLC. She later served as a senior attorney for the city before entering private practice with McDonald.
Adkins began her legal career at a small Austin firm whose work included state-court personal injury cases and federal civil and criminal matters. She also represented women in breast implant settlements, including MDL 926 and the Dow Corning and McGhan bankruptcies. She completed the University of Texas Plan II Honors Program in three years, graduating in 1988, and earned her law degree from the same university in 1991.
