About Lynda

Lynda L. Laing practices litigation, commercial law and creditors’ rights at Strauss, Factor, Laing & Lyons in Providence, Rhode Island. She earned her law degree at Case Western Reserve University Law School in 1983, the year of her Michigan bar admission. Her undergraduate degree is an A.B. from Albion College. Rhode Island admitted her to the bar in 1984; her admission to its federal district court came in 1985.

Laing has also lectured on collections and bankruptcy. She spoke on those subjects for the National Business Institute in 1988 and for the Rhode Island Bar Association in 1995. Her writing for the Rhode Island Bar Journal includes an October 1987 article titled “Fair Debt Collection Practices Act” and a December 1989 piece, “The Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Revised.” A separate article, published in June 1988, addressed Article 6 of the Uniform Commercial Code.

Her professional service includes serving as District Court Bench Bar chairperson in 1995. The firm also lists her work with the Rhode Island Bar Association Annual Meeting Committee in 1996 and the Supreme Court User Friendly Committee in 1997. Among the other associations recorded in her biography are the Commercial Law League of America, American Bankruptcy Institute and Inns of Court. The District Court Constable Disciplinary Committee appears in that record, too.
