Robert Spence is managing partner of Spence Partners, a law firm he founded in 2003, creating a truly diverse and integrated practice with a clear depth of knowledge and exceptional work quality in representing both individual and corporate clients.
Serving as Memphis City Attorney from 1997 to 2004 enhanced Spence’s strong background in government relations and civil litigation. Since that time, Spence has recruited a diverse group of multi-cultural lawyers who provide additional fire power in assisting clients.
Before building this impactful law practice, Spence began his professional life as a Doctor of Pharmacy. A 1982 graduate of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Spence embarked upon a career that allowed him to help improve the lives of others. Spence was recruited to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and served as its first African-American pharmacist.
Spence says that his time at St. Jude helped shape the person he would become and formed the basis of his desire to do even more to assist his fellow man.
Robert is admitted to practice in all Tennessee State Courts, numerous United States District Courts and United States Courts of Appeals across the nation, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
