Michiko earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in German and Spanish from Occidental College, becoming a Fulbright finalist in German and being awarded a scholarship by Occidental to study German in Berlin. She went on to earn her Masters of Arts degree in Linguistics with an emphasis in TESOL from California State University, Long Beach. Michiko enjoyed a lengthy career as an educator, finding that her passion for education and natural enthusiasm for encouraging people to realize their inherent abilities made her a favorite among students and faculty alike. During her tenure as an educator, she would spend her weekends volunteering at local animal sanctuaries and animal rescues. It was during one of her visits to an animal sanctuary that she formulated the idea to go to law school to pursue an interest in animal law. While in law school, Michiko found that her love of language and inherent sense of justice had found a new home in law. She was selected for two Moot Court teams, and received her DRPA certification as a mediator. She mediated for the Orange County Superior Court, North Justice Center for a year before turning her full attention to practicing law. She now applies her determination and sense of fairness to pursuing justice for her clients. Outside of work, Michiko still donates a lot of her time to various animal and social justice organizations. She also runs a guinea pig rescue located in Orange County, California.
