Leara Morris-Stokes Criminal Defense Law

Leara Morris-Stokes was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and is a first-generation college graduate. She received her Bachelor of Art from Clayton State University in 2013, where she majored in History and minored in Legal Studies. In 2017, Leara graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University College of Law (FAMU) with her Juris Doctor and a Certificate in International Law and Human Rights. While attending Law school she served as a member of Black Law Student’s Association (BALSA), American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Hispanic American Law Student Association (HALSA), and the Women’s Law Caucus (WLC). In Law school Leara was chosen as 1 of 20 Environmental Law Fellows in the nation with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Environmental Cooperative Science Center (NOAA-ECSC). She presented More Regulation for Healthier Oceans: A Look at the Magnuson- Stevens Fishery Conversation and Management Act (MSA) at the City College of New York in August 2017. Leara also worked as a criminal paralegal in Orlando for more than two years while in law school. She is passionate about zealously representing the constitutional rights of indigent defendants. Leara and her husband moved to Georgia in 2017. They currently live in the Metro Atlanta area with their kids. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, organizing, and spending time with her family.
