Based in Staten Island, New York, Gary R. DeFilippo has built a successful legal career spanning over two decades. Admitted to practice law in State of New York, Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the United States Supreme Court, he is a former prosecutor, in both trials and appeals, writing and arguing several notable cases, including People v. Farquan Forbes, 283 A.D.2d 92 (2 Dep’t 2001), a precedent setting case in New York State, concerning vehicle stop search and seizure issues and police officer safety. He then started the Law Offices of Gary R. DeFilippo, PC handling both civil and criminal matters and appeals . On March 30, 2023, he overturned a conviction on newly discovered evidence in People v. Timothy Turner, 79 Misc.3d 473, 190 N.Y.S.3d 830 (Rich. Cty Sup. Ct. 3/30/23). One of only a handful of cases where a conviction at the trial court level.
