Eric Weitz

Eric H. Weitz practices law in Philadelphia with The Weitz Firm, LLC, handling catastrophic injury, medical negligence and commercial litigation matters. His earlier positions include both associate and firm-management roles. At Cozen & O’Connor, he worked as an associate from 1992 to 1994; later appointments included serving as of counsel to the Law Offices of Andrew D. Stern from 1998 to 2003. An associate position at Layser & Freiwald followed from 2003 to 2006. He subsequently served as co-managing partner of Messa & Associates between 2011 and 2016.

His academic background began in communications. At Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Weitz majored in television, radio/film management and received his B.S., cum laude, in 1989. His undergraduate honors included the Robert Costas Scholarship for Excellence in Broadcast Writing. Villanova University School of Law awarded him a J.D., also cum laude, in 1992.

Alongside the injury and litigation matters, his individual practice listing includes insurance bad faith, consumer claims and business torts. It also identifies premises liability, motor vehicle and trucking matters, construction site and workplace injuries, and healthcare litigation.

Weitz’s professional service includes a 2012–2014 term on the executive committee of the Temple American Inn of Court. His work with the Pennsylvania Association for Justice has included two other dated assignments: co-chair of its Bad Faith Committee from 2010 to 2014 and Eastern Caucus Whip from 2011 to 2016.
