About Casey
Casey Baxter is the founding attorney of Baxter Law, LLC, in Bend, Oregon, where his criminal defense work includes DUII and murder cases. Before representing defendants, he worked in the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office as a deputy district attorney from 2012 to 2015. He tried both misdemeanors and felonies there and co-chaired a murder trial in 2013.
His work in that office also extended to programs for veterans returning from combat. Baxter helped establish the county’s Veterans Treatment Court and implement its Veterans Intervention Strategy. Within the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Association, he served as treasurer/secretary in 2013–2014 and president in 2014–2015.
Baxter’s own military service came after high school in Bend: he enlisted in the Marine Corps and worked as a helicopter crew chief. He later studied business management at the University of Houston, earning a BBA with summa cum laude honors in 2007. At the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law, his activities included moot court and representing low-income clients in the Criminal Representation Clinic. He received his law degree in 2010. His employment outside law included a financial-advisor position with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in 2011–2012.
His private-practice history includes two periods under the Baxter Law name. A December 2024 career profile lists him as its founding attorney in 2015–2016, then as a founding partner of Baxter Harder LLC from 2016 to 2024. That profile dates his founding-attorney role at Baxter Law LLC to 2024.
Reviews
Excerpts from reviews published across the internet.
“My husband and I wholeheartedly recommend the law firm of Baxter Harder of Bend, Oregon. A family member got themselves into quite a pickle with a DUII and two other charges stemming from one incident. The office was consistently communicative and thoughtful. The attorneys were able to get the last two charges dismissed by applying the double jeopardy principle. The first charge was being dealt with through diversion, so there was not a single conviction stemming from this incident. We are so grateful and impressed by the lawyers' skills at Baxter Harder (and in particular Casey Baxter). The result was unusual and quite rare. We are so fortunate and thankful that Baxter Harder achieved such an incredible outcome.”
