About Sara
Sara M. Schmook is a Tulsa family-law attorney and the owner and senior attorney of The Schmook Law Firm. Accounting came before law: she earned an English degree at Oklahoma State University, obtained CPA status in 2003 and spent several years working in international accounting.
Her decision to change professions followed a divorce and custody dispute of her own. The first person in her family to need a divorce, she entered the proceedings unfamiliar with the courts; her family helped her find an attorney for what became a years-long custody battle. She later left her accounting job for law school, intending to help others facing that process. In 2012, she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa and opened her own office after graduation.
Her work has included divorce and custody cases, guardianships, protective orders and estate planning. She also took part in the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Leadership Academy in 2019.
Schmook met fellow attorney Shannon Brown in law school. Brown merged her solo practice into The Schmook Law Firm in October 2025 and is its managing attorney; associate attorney Madison Plumhoff joined in September 2024. The firm lists mediation and retirement account division among its services, alongside its divorce, support and custody work. Its Tulsa office is at 2930 South Yale Avenue, Suite B.
