Theresa Mari

Theresa A. Mari is a family-law attorney based in Hauppauge, New York, where she founded the Law Office of Theresa A. Mari P.C. Her career includes more than 30 years in private practice and advocacy for children, as well as earlier work as general counsel to multiple businesses.

Mari studied at SUNY Binghamton before earning her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law. Within the Suffolk County Bar Association, she served two terms as a director and held the position of associate dean of its Academy of Law. She has also led three organizations as president: the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association, the Suffolk County Matrimonial Bar Association and the Huntington Lawyer’s Club. Outside those professional organizations, Mari serves as a Town of Huntington councilwoman.

Her firm’s office is in Suite C-17 at 200 Vanderbilt Motor Parkway. Its divorce work covers the allocation of marital assets and debts, custody and support. Agreements are another part of the practice: the firm negotiates and drafts prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and prepares separation agreements for possible incorporation into divorce judgments. It also represents clients in same-sex divorces and litigates temporary and permanent spousal maintenance. Residential property transactions make up a separate practice area, with the firm representing purchasers or sellers from contracts through closing.
