Shawn Sandler

Shawn Sandler practices matrimonial and family law at Kuhn & Sandler, PLLC in Port Jefferson Station, New York. His admission to the New York Bar came in 2013; his practice since then has been confined to those two areas.

At the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County, where he first worked, Sandler handled Family Court matters. That work covered custody and visitation, but also relocation, paternity, family offenses and child protective proceedings. A subsequent associate position took him to a Huntington law firm and a focus on divorce, before he joined Kuhn & Sandler.

New York Law School awarded Sandler his Juris Doctor in 2012, magna cum laude. His law school activities included editing work as a staff member of the New York Law School Law Review. He was a John Marshall Harlan Scholar as well as an associate of the Diane Abby Law Center for Children and Families.

In his account of working with clients, Sandler places importance on helping them understand the divorce process. He also describes learning what outcome they want and advocating on their behalf. Outside his legal work, his firm biography lists two roles with the Fair Harbor Fire Department: elected commissioner and volunteer firefighter. The law firm maintains its office at 5225 Route 347, Building 7, Suite 37, in Port Jefferson Station.
