About Gloria Contreras

Gloria Contreras Edin is an immigration and federal litigation attorney in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and the founder and managing attorney of Contreras Edin Law, P.A. Individuals and families make up her immigration clientele; her representation encompasses removal proceedings, federal litigation and appeals. Detention and constitutional protections are among the issues she has litigated within the federal immigration system.

Before opening her firm, Contreras Edin led Centro Legal, Inc., as executive director. There, she advocated for women and vulnerable communities and helped expand the organization’s statewide and national presence. Her academic background combines a bachelor’s degree in sociology from California State University, Northridge, with a Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law.

At Mitchell Hamline School of Law, she holds two roles: adjunct professor of immigration law and member of the Board of Trustees. Her contributions to legal education also include co-authoring a chapter in the Immigration Practice Deskbook. Immigration policy’s effects on immigrant communities, constitutional protections and federal litigation are subjects of her writing and presentations. She belongs to the Second District Ethics Committee and has held membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2006.

Contreras Edin’s court admissions span Minnesota and several federal jurisdictions. They include the Minnesota Supreme Court, the federal district court in Minnesota, the Fifth, Eighth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
