About Carrie

Carrie Geroux Barrett practices workers’ compensation law and is managing partner of Lacey & Jones, LLP in Troy, Michigan. At the firm, she belongs to the Workers’ Compensation Litigation group.

Her legal education and bar admission both culminated in 1989: she received her J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law and was admitted to the bar that year. Before law school, Barrett attended Kalamazoo College, receiving a B.A. in 1986. Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan followed in 1991.

Barrett’s academic record includes two distinctions from 1987, the Public Corporation Law Section Scholarship and the Best Oral Advocate Moot Court Award. She received the Moffat Scholarship in 1989. Her biography also lists Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International and the Business Law Journal among her activities.

Outside those academic entries, her listed affiliations include the Michigan Self-Insurers’ Association, the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the fundraising committee of Kids’ Chance of Michigan.

Lacey & Jones describes the work of Barrett’s practice group as defending workers’ disability compensation claims. The firm offers consultation on cases in which benefits are paid voluntarily or under court order, along with assistance on return-to-work strategies and settlements. Its workers’ compensation and civil litigation attorneys also work together to identify subrogation cases and protect workers’ compensation liens.
