About John
John Foley is a Simmons Hanly Conroy partner in its Mass Tort Department; the firm identified Alton, Illinois, as his office when announcing his elevation to shareholder. Drug and medical-device injury claims are central to his practice, alongside litigation over other dangerous products.
His work has included transvaginal mesh proceedings involving several manufacturers. The firm lists plaintiffs’ steering committee appointments in the C.R. Bard, American Medical Systems, Boston Scientific and Coloplast multidistrict litigations. A separate appointment concerned discovery: he was named a committee co-lead in the Cook Medical pelvic repair system litigation.
Beyond mesh cases, Foley has represented injured clients in litigation involving 3M Combat Arms earplugs, JUUL e-cigarettes and Philips CPAP machines. Metal-on-metal hip replacements and Attune knee replacements also appear in his case history. Among the drug matters are Xarelto, Actos, Yaz and Chantix. His representation of injured clients has taken place in both state and federal mass tort proceedings; earlier work included asbestos exposure and mesothelioma cases.
Foley’s association with the firm began with a law clerk position in 2004, before he completed law school. He returned after receiving his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law in 2005. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science from Missouri State University, awarded cum laude. The firm lists bar admissions in Missouri, Illinois and California.
