Mia Frieder

Mia I. Frieder is an Atlanta attorney and partner at Hilley & Frieder, P.C., where her practice centers on personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Medical malpractice matters include surgical mistakes, hospital negligence and failures to diagnose cancer or other diseases. She has also handled motor vehicle accident and premises liability cases for injured people.

In her writing, Frieder has examined a hospital’s responsibility for the providers it hires. Her article “An Obligation to Vet” appeared in the August 2019 issue of Trial magazine. It described a father’s death following premature discharge by an opioid-addicted doctor. The children sued the doctor for wrongful death and brought a negligent credentialing claim against the hospital. Frieder discussed the requirements for that claim as well as the importance of a hospital culture of safety.

Her teaching record includes “Failure to Diagnose Breast Cancer” at the Insurance Law Institute in 1996 and 1997. In 1997, she also presented “Personal Injury for the New Lawyer” through Georgia State University’s Division of Continuing Legal Education.

Frieder’s undergraduate degree was in philosophy: she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida in 1987. At Emory University School of Law, she served on the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal’s editorial board; she received her J.D. in 1991. Her firm profile lists the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association among her professional affiliations. She represents clients throughout the greater Atlanta area.
