About Robert
Robert H. Gidel, Jr. is a Tampa, Florida, lawyer whose business transaction practice at Phelps includes work for real estate developers and investors. A partner, he also leads the firm’s Tampa business team. His clients include public and private real estate investment trusts, franchisees, private equity firms, and high-net-worth individuals and their family offices.
Several of the matters described in his firm profile concern housing in Florida. For a homebuilder, his assignments include acquisitions, joint ventures and development projects; for a build-to-rent investment trust, they include property acquisitions, sales and development. His work for a private equity fund covers single-family rental communities across the southeastern United States, from acquisition and development through sale.
Not all of those projects are residential. Gidel advises a company on buying, developing and leasing large-scale data centers. A Florida mixed-use developer engages him for leasing, development and financing transactions. Landlords, tenants and banking and lending institutions are also among the clients he represents.
Gidel earned a journalism bachelor’s degree at the University of Kentucky in 2007 and a law degree at the University of Florida in 2012. His Florida Bar admission followed in April 2013. The Bar’s directory records him as eligible to practice in Florida and a member in good standing, with Phelps Dunbar L.L.P. listed as his firm.
