About Howard
Howard Ellzey is an attorney and partner at Ayo & Iken with a Florida Bar mailing address in New Port Richey, Florida. He previously established his own practice in St. Petersburg in 2008. The Bar lists him as Howard Hunter Ellzey Jr., a member in good standing eligible to practice law in Florida.
Ellzey worked in legal departments before becoming a lawyer. Following active duty in the U.S. Army Reserves, he began studying engineering at Memphis State University and took a litigation consultant position in an investment banking firm’s legal department. Work for other law firms and corporate legal departments followed. He then earned a business management degree at Crichton College in Memphis and moved to Florida.
St. Petersburg became his home before he enrolled at Stetson University College of Law. In 2002, he joined the first class of its four-year, part-time evening program in Gulfport, attending classes at night while working full-time. He finished in three and a half years and earned his Juris Doctor. His Florida Bar admission followed in December 2007.
Family law was among the areas of the St. Petersburg practice he founded the next year, alongside business and contract matters, real estate, and other civil and criminal work. At Ayo & Iken, his account of his practice discusses family disputes and describes both negotiated resolutions and courtroom representation. He also reports having appeared before judges across Florida.
