In its July 1, 2005 opinion, Florida’s Fifth District Court of Appeal named Self and Randy E. Schimmelpfennig as counsel for the appellant. The dispute concerned a shopper’s alleged injuries after a fall in a grocery store’s produce section. The appellate court reversed the summary judgment entered in Food Lion’s favor.
Self’s career also includes representation of businesses and individuals in criminal and civil matters, with trial and appellate work in state and federal courts. He has practiced in Florida since 1993. His professional biography lists admission to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit; the Bar directory identifies the latter as the U.S. Court of Appeals. His biography also lists him on the Ninth Judicial Circuit’s court-appointed attorney registry for Orange and Osceola counties.
