Kelley Barnaby is the co-leader of the firm's Financial Services Litigation team. She focuses her practice on consumer protection and unfair competition litigation and counseling, including private litigation and government investigations regarding antitrust, data privacy, False Claims Act, and CFPB enforcement matters. She has represented clients in a variety of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration-regulated entities. Kelley has extensive litigation experience representing clients as both plaintiff and defendant in state and federal courts, in arbitration, and in front of state regulators. Kelley’s litigation and trial experience includes preparing witnesses for deposition and jury trial, taking and defending depositions, and arguing motions. She has significant experience managing all aspects of e-discovery, from collection to review to production. Kelley was honored with the 2015 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for co-authoring “Cybersecurity: What Directors Need to Know in an Era of Increased Scrutiny.” After law school, Kelley clerked for the Honorable John G. Heyburn II in the Western District of Kentucky. She is recognized as a Washington, D.C. Super Lawyer Rising Star in the field of business litigation. In 2022, Kelley was named to the “40 & Under” list by Benchmark Litigation.

I followed my interest in law while attending Anne Arundel Community College, where I achieved an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies. In 1994 I became a Paralegal servicing the Baltimore City area. I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore in 2000 with a Bachelors Degree in Jurisprudence. In 2003 I attained my Juris Doctorate and was accepted as an Attorney of the State of Maryland. I was a long-time employee of Potts & Potts, P.A. in Baltimore City. I handled Workers’ Compensation cases, Collections, and Miscellaneous Litigation first as a paralegal for nine years and then as an Associate Attorney for eight years. In 2012 I ventured on my own and currently sustain two office locations in Baltimore and Annapolis where I continue to service clients throughout Maryland. Attorney Carol Barnes has been licensed to practice law since 1995. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University in 1990 and her Juris Doctor from Regent University of Law in 1994. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Barnes was a jury consultant who assisted attorneys impaneling juries in complex civil litigation. Additionally, Ms. Barnes carries a number of prestigious certifications. After passing numerous financial examinations, she attained certification as a Financial Divorce Analyst. She has completed workshops at Harvard University Law School and attained certification as a Divorce Mediator and Negotiator. She is a former court appointed special advocate for children and a court appointed guardian ad litem. Ms. Barnes is one of a handful of attorneys in the United States who successfully completed the esteemed American Bar Association Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute on trial testimony and expert witness. Ms. Barnes opened her own law firm in 2006.
