Jim is a 3 x combat veteran who was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri. He received his J.D. from St Louis University School of Law. Jim served in the Missouri House of Representatives where he was elected to three terms. He was later appointed by Gov. Jay Nixon as a commissioner of the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission--the highest administrative level of appeal for all workers compensation cases. Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1991 and served until 1995. Following the attacks on September 11, 2001, he joined the Missouri Army National Guard. He later received his commission as an Officer. He still currently serves as a Army Engineer Captain.

He has closed approximately 1,000 transactions, totaling more than $50 billion in aggregate principal amount of municipal bond transactions as bond counsel, underwriters' counsel, issuer's counsel, user's counsel and trustee's counsel for a variety of public infrastructure and improvement projects. Bill is a frequent speaker at conferences for the State Bar of Texas, National Association of Bond Lawyers, Texas City Attorneys Association, Mexican American School Board Association and The Bond Buyer.

Mr. Awad has an excellent record of achievement in trial and appellate advocacy on behalf of consumers in matters including medical malpractice, construction site injury, premise security, automobile accidents, municipal liability and unsafe products. His experience includes million dollar recoveries in more than forty cases, including the highest jury and appellate award in a single year.
