Nogah B. Helfant is a partner at Meiselman Helfant & Wills, LLC and has concentrated her practice in the area of family law in Maryland since the year 2000. Ms. Helfant has extensive litigation, mediation, and negotiation experience in contested divorce cases, protective orders, high conflict custody cases, modification, and post-divorce enforcement proceedings. Ms. Helfant is frequently appointed by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland to serve as a Child Privilege Attorney or Best Interest Attorney in contested custody cases. Ms. Helfant has completed the 6.5 hour child counsel training and 40 hour divorce mediation training workshop prescribed by the Maryland Rules of Procedure. Ms. Helfant is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz (B.A. 1991) and Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts (J.D. 1994). Ms. Helfant is a member of the Montgomery County, District of Columbia, Maryland State, and American Bar Associations. Ms. Helfant has been active in the legal community by providing pro bono legal services to low income clients. Reported cases include Campitelli v. Johnston, 134 Md. App. 689, 761 A.2d 369 (2000), and Walker v. Grow, 170 Md.App. 255, 907 A.2d 255 (2006). Ms. Helfant served on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Community Center in Northern Virginia from 2011-2013. Ms. Helfant and her husband, Robert Helfant, are the proud parents of three children.

Nick Helmer has a broad-ranging practice that encompasses all aspects of commercial real estate and has established himself as a trusted business advisor to his clients which include regional developers as well as publicly traded real estate investment funds. Nick started his career as an associate at DLA’s predecessor firm working primarily on residential acquisitions, construction and development for both developer/borrowers and on behalf of numerous financial institutions. During the past 20 years, Nick served in-house as general counsel for a private real estate development and property management company overseeing numerous hotel developments, new construction projects and landlord representation for a 300 + commercial retail/office/restaurant portfolio. Most recently, Nick led a FinTech investment fund’s organization of a new PropTech company to acquire one billion dollars of single-family homes (SFR). Nick thrives on creating value opportunities by evaluating and implementing technology solutions to every aspect of real estate investment. Nick has always worked hard to support DLA’s pro-bono clients. In 2023, Nick joined the Board of Directors of Little City Foundation. Little City proves services and housing to individuals with disabilities in Illinois.

Mr. Helo earned a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Northridge. After College, Moussa attended Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Three years Later, upon returning to Los Angeles, he sat for the State Bar, passed, and was admitted. Moussa became a certified law clerk with the Los Angeles City Attorney Office, Anti-Gang Division, where he prosecuted criminals. In addition, Moussa became certified as a mediator and volunteered at local courts to help resolve small claims suits.
