Kristina Sexton

Kristina Sexton is a family law attorney and co-founder of NXTSTEP Family Law in Huntsville, Alabama. Known professionally as Kris, she established the firm with Coby Boswell in 2016 after the two had already worked together. The firm is located at 1000 Church Street NW in Huntsville.

Sexton earned her law degree at Barry University School of Law, where her studies included Children and Families and Trial Advocacy. She is licensed in Alabama and Florida. Her practice focuses on family law, juvenile law, matters involving DHR/CPS, and mediation. The firm also identifies complex divorce mediation as a particular area of her work.

A registered mediator, Sexton has mediated more than 100 family law matters in North Alabama. Her professional background also includes training as a Court Appointed Juvenile Advocate. NXTSTEP lists her as a licensed Guardian ad Litem and describes her involvement with the National Children’s Advocacy Center.

At the firm level, NXTSTEP represents mothers, fathers, children, and grandparents in family law matters. Sexton works with a support team that includes paralegals Heather Hoffman and Katie Carroll. Hoffman also supports attorney Danielle Cassells, while Carroll is identified as Sexton’s paralegal. Office manager Hannah Coulter previously worked alongside Sexton as a paralegal concentrating on family law and juvenile matters before moving into office management in 2022.
